St Joseph's High 2019 HSC graduate Kate Lloyd has been awarded a prestigious Ma and Morley Scholarship to study a Bachelor of Communication and Bachelor of Laws at the University of Newcastle.
Kate, a student who participated in the Profecta program in 2019, studied Advanced English, Mathematics Standard, Studies of Religion I, Modern History, Society and Culture, and PDHPE.
‘I often compare my experience of the HSC to running a marathon,’ Kate says, ‘all the study sessions, learning notes and revision activities were like training and I knew that the more I put in, the more it was likely to pay off in the end.’
‘Profecta proved to be a great assistance to me during my HSC and I couldn’t speak any higher of the program. The one hour sessions were something I looked forward to each week and I could always go in with any questions I may have had and we would work through them together.’
‘My tutor, Oscar, went above and beyond to assist me and made the English syllabus much clearer and easier to understand. He spent a lot of time outside of the sessions reading my practice essays and assessments before they were submitted and always offered me detailed feedback and suggestions.’
Oscar Pursey, Kate’s tutor, said that he was immensely proud of his student's efforts: 'Kate worked so diligently and was a pleasure to teach – I was delighted to see her hard work pay off.'
